Field Day 2010 couldn’t have been better! The weather was
beautiful and the day was a blast. We had a number of new events
that proved to be instant classics. Teams arrived early and set
up camp at USF, Tampa. Everyone was showing their team spirit
with great tent decorations and costumes. The best costume
trophy went to Truffle Shuffle with their “70’s staches”. Best
tent went to the Aegon teams, Fire Breathing Rubber Duckies &
Playaz N Ballaz. And the “most spirit” trophy went to the crews
from Tampa Bay Derby Darlins and Tampa Roller Derby.
The day was dedicated to raising money for Special Olympics and
all they do. The teams did great with the Charity Challenge
raising money ahead of time with Swamp Donkeys getting the most,
$560! The beer was kindly provided by MGD 64 – thank you! With
the Charity Challenge and beer sales, Special Olympics was able
to raise a total of $3210 – awesome!
The competition was fun, wacky, and intense. We had some amazing
showings in the new events such as the Quarterback Challenge.
Plus teams loved the Team Dash which tested their strategy,
speed, brains, and brawn.
For the best part of Field Day the action on the lanes was more
fun than ever! Not many were still standing after the Dizzy Bat
Spin - always a classic sending people crashing all over. In the
end the water balloon toss ended the day in fantastic fashion
with 4 teams going out all on the final throw! In all, there
were 13 events testing the meddle of all the competitors.
Many teams had great showings, but two teams topped them all.
Quack Pack IV and Britches and Hoes both finished the day with
311 points, a Field Day record! But Quack IV took its second
straight title getting by in a tiebreak, winning 4 of the 13
events to Britches and Hoes being tops in just 1. After all the
Just outside the top two taking the 3rd place trophy
was Duck Hunters!
We hope to see all the teams back for Field Day '11. Thank you
to Creative Loafing and MGD64! |
