25 individuals showed
up for an evening of exciting coed doubles “King of the Court” style at
the beautiful McMullen Tennis Complex in Clearwater. The weather was
perfect as a lot of local tennis players of all abilities made new
friends and played several head to head matches. Most of the group then
journeyed down the road to Buffalo Wild Wings for some free beer and
wings and to watch some college football! Hopefully we can build from
this and work on starting some more tennis events or leagues in the near
future!
FORMAT: King of the court (Doubles):
-
4 players per court (randomly assigned).
Each court plays doubles with each player getting 5 serves in
rotation (if score ends 10-10 first server gets one more to
determine tiebreaker).
-
Winners of each round move “up a court”
and split up, losers move “down a court” and split up. Winners
on top court and losers on bottom court stay at the same court but
split up. After a certain number of rounds winner of the last
“high court” match are crowned “Kings of the Court” and will receive
a prize! After event players are welcome to stick around to
hit the ball around!
