BOWLING RULES
revised 09/20/11Revised rules in
RED
-
Teams
will consist of 4 bowlers, but may bowl with less. At least
1 bowler must be on
your official Club Sport roster. The same bowlers must bowl all night (no
substituting bowling in during the night). For the playoffs all bowlers must be on
your roster. All bowlers, including added players,
must sign the roster waiver BEFORE the final game of the season in order to
be eligible to play in the tournament. If a player is not signed in on the
roster by then, they are not eligible for the tournament. Substitute bowlers are NOT allowed in the tournament.
-
Teams
will play scheduled opposing team head to head on side by side lanes and will
cross bowl (one frame on one lane, the next on the other).
-
Substitute bowlers
must specify on the score sheet who they are bowling for, and the
substitutes games will be capped at 150. Also, for teams that have 4 or more bowlers on the roster, if
they choose to bowl with 3 bowlers the team they bowl against has the option
to drop their lowest score each game, even if it is the same bowler all 3
times.
-
3 games
will be bowled with one point awarded to the team that wins total pin fall for
each game.
-
In the
first game the top 3 scores will be added for total pin fall, lowest score being
dropped. In games 2 and 3 the top 3 scores will count towards total pin
fall, however the same player that was dropped from the first game can not be
dropped again that night (as well as the player dropped from game #2 can not be
dropped from game #3). In this case the second lowest score would be
dropped (and the same for game #3). If two bowlers tie for the lowest eligible
score, the determination of which bowlers score to drop must be made before
the next game begins. An example of 3 games is below...

* Cannot be dropped for Game 2 since
it was already dropped for Game 1
** Bowlers 2 & 3's scores cannot be
dropped for Games 3 since they have already been dropped once.
-
An
additional point will be awarded for total pin fall (top 3 scores used for all 3
games) making a total of 4 points available each week. In case of
ties the point shall be split, each team earning a half point.
-
If a team
only has 3 bowlers in one night (or less), then no scores will be dropped.
Late bowlers have until the last bowler finishes the
3rd frame to arrive in order to be counted for a game. For teams that have 4 or more bowlers on
the roster, if they choose to bowl with 3 bowlers the team they bowl against
has the option to drop their lowest score each game, even if it is the same
bowler all 3 times.
-
Each team
will be responsible for recording and totaling scores on the provided hard copy
score sheet. TEAMS MUST TURN IN THE SHEET TO THE LEAGUE COORDINATOR AFTER
THEIR GAME.
-
Seven
weeks of regular season play will be followed by an 8th week of playoff format
where the #1 seed plays the #4 seed in a semi final (2 games) and the #3 plays
#2 in a semi final (2 games), and the winners meet up for two games for the
championship. Ties will be broken by highest single
bowler score in either game rolled. Remainder of teams will play head to head for fun ( #5
will play #6, etc). Seedings for playoff will be based on: #1. Total
points earned, #2 Total Pin Fall for the season, #3 Coin flip.
-
Season end High Game, High Average and
High Series prizes will be based on a minimum of 11 games bowled.

ETIQUETTE TIPS:
-
Be
ready to bowl when it is your turn
-
Don't go up onto the approach if a bowler on an adjacent lane is
aiming or taking their shot
-
The bowler on the right should bowl if both reach the approach at
the same time. Stay off the approach while you wait
-
Step back off the approach after making each delivery
-
Refrain form using abusive language or obscene gestures
-
Play to win but be gracious in defeat. Bowling is both a sport and a
recreation that you should enjoy regardless of the score. Be a good
loser as well as a good winner
...and
most of all, have fun! |
